Raul Fernandez produced a commanding lights-to-flag performance at Silverstone to claim his first Grand Prix victory of the 2026 MotoGP season, leading an all-Aprilia podium at the British Grand Prix.

The Trackhouse MotoGP rider launched perfectly from second on the grid to take the holeshot and never surrendered the lead, eventually crossing the line 2.5 seconds clear of Aprilia Racing’s Jorge Martin. Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third.

Fernandez’s victory also continued a remarkable run at Silverstone, making him the 12th different winner across the last 12 British Grands Prix.

It was the perfect response to a disappointing Saturday for the Spaniard, who established control almost immediately after the lights went out.

Fernandez beat Bezzecchi into Turn 1 while polesitter Martin became occupied in an early battle with Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura. Ducati Lenovo’s Marc Marquez capitalised on the fighting ahead to move into third by the exit of Turn 4, although Martin soon reclaimed the position.

By then, Fernandez was already disappearing up the road.

The #25 set a new race lap record on Lap 3 and quickly established a two-second advantage, leaving the battles behind him to determine the remaining podium positions.

Martin strengthens championship lead

While Fernandez controlled proceedings, Martin worked his way back towards the front and passed Aprilia teammate Bezzecchi for second on Lap 9.

Alex Marquez was also making progress for BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, moving into third before a mistake at Turn 1 dropped him back to fifth. He recovered to fourth after repassing Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pedro Acosta, but his podium opportunity had disappeared.

Ogura endured a far more difficult afternoon. After being pushed back to seventh during the early exchanges, the Japanese rider crashed at Turn 16 on Lap 9, costing him valuable points in the championship fight.

Several other riders failed to reach the chequered flag.

Enea Bastianini crashed his Red Bull KTM Tech3 machine at Turn 17, while Gresini’s Iker Lecuona went down at Turn 12 and CASTROL Honda LCR’s Cal Crutchlow fell at Turn 6.

Ducati Lenovo’s Francesco Bagnaia joined the list of retirements on Lap 8 after crashing at Turn 7, the same corner where he came unstuck during the previous year’s British Grand Prix.

Fernandez untouchable out front

With five laps remaining, Fernandez held an advantage of more than four seconds over Martin and Bezzecchi.

Martin managed to reduce the deficit during the closing stages, bringing it down to 3.4 seconds with four laps remaining and 3.1 seconds one lap later, but Fernandez remained firmly in control.

Further back, Fabio Di Giannantonio mounted a late charge aboard the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team Ducati. The Italian passed reigning World Champion Marc Marquez at Turn 3 on Lap 18 before setting his sights on Acosta.

None of it troubled Fernandez.

The Spaniard completed a near-flawless afternoon to take his second career MotoGP Grand Prix victory and his first of 2026, crossing the line 2.5 seconds ahead of Martin.

Bezzecchi secured third to complete an all-Aprilia podium, while Alex Marquez was the highest-placed Ducati rider in fourth. Acosta took fifth ahead of Di Giannantonio.

Marc Marquez eventually finished seventh, with Brad Binder taking eighth for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. Luca Marini was the leading Honda rider in ninth for Honda HRC Castrol, while Pro Honda LCR’s Diogo Moreira completed the top ten.

Martin takes 31-point advantage into Aragon

The result strengthened Martin’s position at the top of the MotoGP World Championship, with the Spaniard leaving Silverstone 31 points clear of Bezzecchi.

Marc Marquez sits 40 points behind Martin following his seventh-place finish, while Ogura’s crash proved particularly costly after he entered the weekend firmly in the championship conversation.

Aprilia riders now occupy the top three positions in the championship as MotoGP heads into the final 10 rounds of the season.
