Lando Norris topped the timesheets in final practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix, giving McLaren renewed hope of securing their first Grand Prix pole position of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
After Ferrari dominated Friday’s running, Norris found extra pace on his final run on the soft tyres to set a best lap of 1:17.939, finishing 0.117 seconds clear of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli bounced back from a difficult Friday to end the session third, just 0.129s off the pace, while Charles Leclerc was fourth ahead of Oscar Piastri.
George Russell remained off the pace in sixth, more than six tenths adrift of Norris, with Max Verstappen seventh. Isack Hadjar was eighth for Red Bull Racing, Liam Lawson ninth for Racing Bulls and Audi’s Nico Hülkenberg completed the top 10.
Arvid Lindblad’s session was heavily disrupted after Racing Bulls elected to fit a precautionary new power unit. The British rookie missed almost the entire hour while work was carried out on his car before emerging only in the closing moments to complete a single flying lap, leaving him 13th on the timesheets heading into qualifying.
