Lando Norris claimed his second consecutive Formula 1 victory with a commanding win at Zandvoort, beating championship leader Kimi Antonelli as George Russell completed the podium for Mercedes.
“Let’s keep bringing upgrades. Let’s keep bringing performance. The fight is still on. Let’s keep going,” Norris said over team radio after taking the chequered flag.
The McLaren driver started from pole but lost the lead to Antonelli following an early red flag triggered when Max Verstappen crashed out of his home Grand Prix on the opening lap.
Antonelli initially kept Norris behind, but the balance shifted after the first round of pit stops. Norris found significantly more pace on the hard tyres before McLaren extended his second stint, giving him fresher rubber for the closing stages.
Norris caught Antonelli as the Mercedes driver approached Lewis Hamilton and made his move on lap 54, passing Antonelli before clearing Hamilton later in the lap.
“The move was good! I knew I wasn’t going to get many chances,” Norris said. “I saw Lewis defended and I knew that was my moment.”
Norris eventually crossed the line 11 seconds ahead of Antonelli.
Russell secured third after surviving late pressure from Hamilton, who narrowly missed the podium in fourth for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc followed his team-mate home in fifth, ahead of Oscar Piastri.
Liam Lawson finished seventh for Red Bull while deputising for the injured Isack Hadjar, with Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly completing the top 10.
Antonelli leaves Zandvoort with his championship lead increased to 59 points, while Russell moves into second ahead of Hamilton on countback, with the pair level on points. Norris reduced his deficit to the championship leader to 83 points.
The race also brought Formula 1’s latest stint at Zandvoort to a close, with the Dutch circuit hosting its final Grand Prix.
