Formula E has strengthened its long-term commitment to Monaco after confirming the Monaco E-Prix will remain on the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship calendar through to 2031. The championship has also announced a revised date for the 2027 event, moving the double-header to May 1-2 to avoid a scheduling clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Formula E Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo said:

“There is no stage in motorsport quite like the Circuit de Monaco, and we are thrilled to bring the next era of electric racing to the Principality. David Coulthard’s iconic GEN4 test-run at our last event set the ultimate precedent for what will be another showstopping weekend. With heightened speeds, even more overtaking, and intense wheel-to-wheel action, this jewel-in-the-crown double-header promises to be our best yet.”

The revised date, approved by an FIA World Motor Sport Council e-vote, sees the Monaco E-Prix move forward by two weeks from its original slot on May 15-16. The change ensures Formula E avoids overlapping with the World Endurance Championship while maintaining Monaco’s place as one of the headline events on the calendar.

Alongside the date change, Formula E and the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) confirmed they have extended their partnership until 2031, securing the future of electric racing around the iconic streets of Monte Carlo for the remainder of the GEN4 era.

The extension represents another milestone in Formula E’s relationship with Monaco. After initially appearing as a biennial event, the Monaco E-Prix has evolved into an annual fixture and is now contested on the full Grand Prix circuit shared with Formula 1.

The Automobile Club de Monaco said:

The ACM looks forward to continuing this journey alongside Formula E and contributing year after year to Monaco’s global prestige.”

Mahindra Racing driver Nyck de Vries, who claimed victory in Monaco earlier this year, welcomed the announcement.

“Monaco is one of the races every driver wants to be part of, and after winning there this year it will always hold special memories for me. Receiving the H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Trophy from Prince Albert and Princess Charlene was a highlight of my season, and it’s a venue that not only has always been very kind to me throughout my racing career, but I am also proud to call home. Monaco is such an important part of Formula E, so the extension with the ACM is fantastic news for the championship and its fans.”

The announcement comes ahead of Formula E’s biggest season to date. The 2026-27 campaign will feature a record 21 races across 13 venues, marking the beginning of the championship’s all-new GEN4 era.

The season opens with a night-time double-header in Jeddah on December 18-19 before visiting Mexico City, Austin, Miami, São Paulo and Sanya. Monaco begins a busy European leg that also includes Berlin, London, Zandvoort and Madrid, before the championship concludes with double-headers in Shanghai and Tokyo.

Formula E will also introduce a new weekend format for GEN4. Traditional E-Prix races will be joined by the shorter E-Prix Unleashed, designed to showcase the full performance potential of the new-generation car while delivering a different style of racing across double-header weekends.
