Marco Bezzecchi continued his record-breaking weekend at MotorLand Aragón by becoming the first MotoGP rider to break into the 1:44s, taking pole position for the Michelin Grand Prix of Aragon with a stunning 1:44.962.

The Aprilia Racing rider had already established a new all-time lap record during Friday Practice, but lowered the benchmark again in qualifying to secure the front starting position for both Saturday’s Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Bezzecchi was the only rider to break the 1:45 barrier and did so twice during Q2, eventually setting the 1:44.962 that would prove unbeatable.

Marc Márquez came closest to denying the Italian pole. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider produced a 1:45.051, finishing just 0.089 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

Álex Márquez completed the front row for BK8 Gresini Racing with a 1:45.261, 0.299 seconds away from pole.

Aprilia puts two bikes inside the top five

Raúl Fernández continued his strong weekend for SuperFile Trackhouse, qualifying fourth with a 1:45.375, 0.413 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

Championship leader Jorge Martín put the second Aprilia Racing machine fifth with a 1:45.436, giving Aprilia-powered machinery three of the first five positions on the grid.

Pedro Acosta secured sixth for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing with a 1:45.555, completing the second row.

Fabio Di Giannantonio will start seventh for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, while Francesco Bagnaia recovered from having to progress through Q1 to qualify eighth on the second Ducati Lenovo Team machine.

Johann Zarco took ninth for Castrol Honda LCR, with rookie Diogo Moreira completing the top ten for Pro Honda LCR.

Fermín Aldeguer and Franco Morbidelli rounded out the Q2 field in 11th and 12th respectively.

The result leaves Bezzecchi, Marc Márquez and Álex Márquez on the front row for the Sprint, with just 0.299 seconds separating the three and Bezzecchi’s new MotorLand Aragón benchmark setting the stage for the afternoon’s battle.
