British rapper AJ Tracey brought the energy to ExCeL London on Sunday, delivering two performances as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship prepared to bring the curtain down on both its season and its time at the East London venue.
Tracey first took over the Formula E Fan Village, delivering an energetic set to an engaged crowd gathered for the final day of the season finale.
The London artist followed his Fan Village appearance with an encore performance on the starting grid in front of a packed crowd as the Formula E cars lined up behind him, ready to do battle for the final time this season.
With the grandstands looking on and the drivers just moments away from the start, Tracey turned the grid into a stage, providing the soundtrack to the final build-up before racing got underway.
The moment carried added significance as Sunday’s race marked Formula E’s final appearance at ExCeL London, bringing to an end a chapter that began when the championship first raced at the venue in 2021.
The circuit became one of the most distinctive on the Formula E calendar, with cars racing both inside and outside the exhibition centre on the world’s only indoor-outdoor circuit.
Formula E will enter a dramatically different era next season with the introduction of its GEN4 machinery, the fastest and most powerful cars in the championship’s history.
The new cars will produce up to 600kW of power and are capable of speeds in excess of 335km/h. With GEN4 designed to deliver a significant step forward in performance, Formula E is increasingly moving towards permanent racing circuits capable of showcasing the full potential of the new machinery.
For its next UK appearance, the championship will leave East London behind and head to one of Britain’s most historic racing venues, Brands Hatch.
The Kent circuit will host Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2026/27 championship on 29 and 30 May 2027, giving British fans their first opportunity to see the GEN4 cars compete on home soil.
Formula E has described Brands Hatch as a natural home for its new generation of machinery, with the Grand Prix circuit providing a very different challenge from the tight indoor-outdoor layout that has defined the championship’s time at ExCeL.
It made Sunday’s finale a fitting send-off for the venue.
